Artisan Real Rust Activator is the second step in achieving  a natural real rust patina.  Once the Real Rust Base coat is touch dry, liberally apply the Activator.  Rusting will start in about 30 minutes and can be enhanced by lightly misting the surface with water.  The rust patina will continue to develop just like on metal items.  Can be left unsealed outdoors in the garden but we recommend sealing with Artisan Flat Matte Sealer if placing on light coloured flooring, verandas, or inside to prevent rust stains. 

Artisan recommends  using gloves and safety glasses as the activator is mildly corrosive.

It is best to apply the activator in the shade to prolong drying time
